Quesadillas are an emblematic dish of Mexican cuisine, with roots dating back to pre-Hispanic times, when local ingredients were combined with ancestral culinary techniques. Traditionally, quesadillas consist of corn or flour tortillas filled with cheese, although over time they have incorporated various ingredients depending on the region and personal tastes. In several Latin American countries, this dish may have different names or present variations: in Mexico they are simply known as "quesadillas," in Colombia and Venezuela they resemble stuffed arepas, while in countries like Argentina and Uruguay they may resemble "empanadas" due to their shape and filling. This receptive flexibility makes the quesadilla a beloved and adapted dish in many kitchens throughout the region.
