Ginger tea

Ginger tea is a traditional beverage with roots in the ancestral medicine of various cultures around the world, especially in Asia and Latin America. In countries like Mexico, Colombia, and Peru, this infusion is valued not only for its flavor but also for its multiple medicinal properties. In some parts of Latin America, ginger tea is simply known as "ginger water" or "ginger infusion," while in other regions it is called "cold tea" due to its use in relieving flu symptoms. Originally, this preparation was used to improve digestion, activate circulation, and strengthen the immune system, traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Ginger is frequently combined with typical aromatic spices like cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom to enhance its flavor and properties. Additionally, the presence of black pepper helps activate its beneficial components. Although its preparation may vary slightly by region, ginger tea is often accompanied by some type of plant-based or regular milk to balance its spicy flavor and add smoothness.

How to Prepare Ginger Tea

To prepare this healthy infusion, you will need the following ingredients: Fresh ginger, whole black peppercorns, whole black cardamom seeds, cloves, and cinnamon sticks.

Place in a pot with one gallon of water.

Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 1 hour.

Turn off the heat, add two black tea bags.

Let it steep for ten minutes with the tea, then remove the bags and continue steeping for another 20 minutes.

Strain.

Add water to bring it back to a volume of one gallon.

Store in pitchers in the refrigerator.

You can freeze portions that will not be used within a week.

To serve, for each cup of tea, add a few ounces of milk, rice milk, or soy milk, and heat until almost boiling.

This recipe has the benefits of improving circulation, reducing fever, soothing digestion, stimulating the immune system, etc.

Taken as a preventive measure, it drastically reduces the incidence of colds, in my personal experience.
