Origins and Variations of Caesar Dressing
Caesar dressing is an iconic sauce that has become a classic in international cuisine. Its origin dates back to the 1920s in Tijuana, Mexico, where an Italian-American chef named Caesar Cardini created it improvisationally in his restaurant. Although today it is mainly known as "Caesar dressing," in different Latin American countries it has its own names and variants, adapting to local ingredients. For example, in Mexico and some Central American countries it is simply called "Caesar sauce," while in Argentina and Chile it is common to refer to it as "Caesar-style dressing." In all cases, its essence combines creamy, slightly acidic, and salty flavors that enhance salads and dishes with chicken or seafood.
