History and Origin of Alfredo Sauce
Alfredo Sauce is a classic preparation originating from Italy, specifically from Rome. It was created in the early 20th century by Alfredo di Lelio, who was looking for a simple but delicious sauce for his wife during a difficult pregnancy. This sauce quickly became popular thanks to its creamy flavor and smooth texture.
In several Latin American countries, this sauce has similar names or is slightly adapted. For example, in Mexico and other places it is commonly known as "Alfredo Sauce," keeping the original name, while in some other countries it may simply be referred to as "creamy pasta sauce." Unlike the original Italian version, which is prepared with butter and Parmesan cheese, in Latin America additional ingredients such as sour cream are often added to give it a different and more accessible touch.
