Crab bites are a delicious dish that combines seafood flavors with a quick and easy preparation, very popular in various regions of Latin America and Asia. Their origin lies in the culinary influence of Chinese cuisine, especially in the use of wonton wrappers, which have been adapted in different countries to create unique appetizers with local ingredients. In countries like Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela, they are also often called "crab empanaditas" or simply "crab fritters," although the recipe may vary slightly depending on the region, adapting to available ingredients and local traditions.
This recipe reflects the fusion between Asian technique and Latin American coastal flavors, where crab, the star ingredient, provides a mild and fresh taste. Its versatility has made these bites a recurring option for parties, family gatherings, or even for a quick snack at home. Furthermore, the use of cream cheese and spices like garlic powder enhances the flavor, making this dish a delicious and easy-to-prepare culinary experience.
