Cold pea salad is a very popular dish in various regions of Latin America, known for its freshness and versatility. In countries like Mexico, it is often simply called "pea salad," while in others, like Venezuela and Colombia, it may be identified as "green pea salad." This recipe has its roots in home cooking, where fresh and economical ingredients are used, making it an ideal side dish for summer meals or special celebrations.
The pea, also known as the green pea, is a legume rich in protein and fiber, which provides a sweet flavor and soft texture to the salad. Its versatility allows this preparation to easily adapt to regional tastes by adding local ingredients that enrich the combination. The presence of mayonnaise along with crunchy vegetables like celery and onion provides a perfect contrast for those who enjoy fresh and balanced dishes.
