Classic tiramisu

Tiramisu is one of the most iconic and beloved Italian desserts in the world. Its origin dates back to the Veneto region in northern Italy during the 1960s or 1970s, although there are various theories about its invention. The name "tiramisu" literally means "pick me up" or "cheer me up," referring to the revitalizing effect of the coffee and cocoa in this delicious preparation. In Latin America, although the name is generally kept as tiramisu, in some places it is also known as "coffee and cheese dessert," due to its main ingredients.

This dessert combines soft and creamy layers of mascarpone cheese with coffee-soaked ladyfingers, creating a perfect blend of textures and flavors. The worldwide fame of tiramisu has led each country to slightly adapt the recipe, but always respecting its essence: a balance between sweetness, creaminess, and the bitterness of coffee and cocoa. Enjoying a tiramisu is savoring an Italian tradition that has conquered palates all over the planet.

How to prepare Classic tiramisu

Ingredients: Ladyfingers, Water, Sugar, Instant Coffee Powder, Brandy, Vanilla, Mascarpone, Powdered Sugar, Whipping Cream, Cocoa, Espresso Beans.

If mascarpone cheese is not available, substitute with 8 ounces of cream cheese mixed with 1/4 cup of whipping cream and 2 1/2 tablespoons of sour cream.

Place the ladyfingers on the bottom of a 13x9x2" Pyrex dish.

Dissolve the sugar and instant coffee powder in the hot water.

Add brandy and vanilla to the coffee mixture.

Pour 1 cup of this mixture over the ladyfingers, making sure they are well soaked.

Beat the mascarpone and 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar until the mixture is creamy.

In another bowl, beat the whipping cream using clean beaters until stiff peaks form.

Gently fold the whipped cream into the cheese mixture, adding it in two parts to maintain an airy texture.

Spread this cream evenly over the coffee-soaked ladyfingers.

Finally, sprinkle cocoa powder on top to decorate and add a touch of bitter flavor.
