Classic pizza dough

Classic pizza dough has a rich history dating back centuries, originating in Italy, specifically in Naples, where pizza began as a humble dish for the working classes. Over time, this recipe has spread throughout the world and has been adapted into many cultures. In Latin America, pizza goes by various names and styles, although the term "pizza" generally remains constant. For example, in countries like Mexico, Argentina, and Chile, pizza is very popular and is enjoyed with different ingredients and dough styles, but the base remains the classic Italian dough.

This preparation has been adopted in much of Latin America, and although in some regions it may be called "flour dough cake" or simply "pizza dough," the original recipe remains the same: a mixture of flour, yeast, water, and salt that, through a process of kneading and fermentation, provides a crispy, fluffy, and delicious base for any type of topping.

How to prepare Classic Pizza Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast, 1 cup of flour, and the salt.

Mix.

Then, add the water and oil.

Beat on low speed for 30 seconds.

Scrape the sides of the bowl and continue beating on high speed for 3 minutes.

By hand, incorporate enough flour so that the dough is firm.

Knead until smooth, which can take up to 10 minutes.

Place in a well-greased bowl and turn the dough until it is lightly greased.

Cover and let rest for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.

Punch the dough down and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Cut the dough in half.

On a floured surface, roll the halves into 12-inch circles, about 1/8 inch thick.

Brush the surfaces of the dough with olive oil and add your preferred ingredients.

Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.
