Spicy beef with sauce

Spicy beef is a traditional dish with a rich history in Latin American cuisine. Its origin dates back to the fusion of ancient culinary techniques with ingredients brought by colonizers, which gave rise to recipes full of flavor and creativity. In different Latin American countries, this recipe may have different names; for example, in Mexico it is commonly known as "shredded beef in red sauce," while in other places like Colombia or Venezuela it is simply called "spicy beef." The preparation method and ingredients may vary, but its essence is always the combination of tender meat with a sauce full of spices and heat that enhances the flavor of every bite.

This dish is very popular at family gatherings and celebrations, where the recipe is maintained as a symbol of unity and culinary tradition. Furthermore, the slow-cooked meat allows the flavors to be absorbed, resulting in an exquisite stew that is enjoyed at any time of the day with bread or tortillas.

How to Prepare Spicy Beef

To begin this delicious preparation, place the beef chuck roast along with onion, celery, and green bell pepper in a Dutch oven. Cover all the ingredients with water.

Cover the pot tightly and simmer for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until the meat is tender.

Remove the meat from the pot and let it cool. Shred the meat and return it to the cooking liquid.

Add ketchup, taco hot sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, bay leaf, salt, dry mustard, and chili powder to the liquid with the meat.

Simmer for 1 hour so all the flavors blend perfectly.

Before serving, remove the bay leaf.

Serve the spicy beef inside hamburger buns or buns of your choice, and enjoy a plate full of flavor!
