Seasonal cranberry bread

History and Origin of Cranberry Bread

Cranberry Bread is a delicious preparation that has become especially popular during the Christmas season in several countries. Its origin dates back to the culinary traditions of North America, where the cranberry is a fruit very present in winter cuisine. In the United States and Canada, cranberry bread is a festive classic enjoyed at family gatherings and celebrations.

In Latin America, although the use of cranberries is not so common in all regions, there are similar variants of breads with dried or fresh fruits. In some countries, it is simply known as "red fruit bread" or "berry bread." The incorporation of orange juice and walnuts provides citrusy flavors and a crunchy texture that perfectly complement the softness of the bread.

This bread is ideal for sharing during the holidays due to its sweet and refreshing flavor, in addition to how easy it is to store and freeze, making it practical to prepare in advance. Without a doubt, Christmas Cranberry Bread is a symbol of tradition and flavor that brings families together around the table.

How to Prepare Seasonal Christmas Cranberry Bread

Ingredients: Flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, orange juice, butter, egg, fresh cranberries, and walnuts.

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda into a large bowl and set aside.

Add 2 tablespoons of melted butter to 3/4 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Add a beaten egg to the orange mixture and add to the dry ingredients.

Mix until the dry ingredients are moistened.

Incorporate chopped walnuts and cranberries.

Pour into a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes to 1 hour.

Let rest for 24 hours before slicing.

This recipe freezes very well - I usually wrap it first in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil, and then place it in zipper bags - I usually take it out of the freezer the night before serving, if possible.

Delicious on its own or with butter or cream cheese spread.
