Blackberry pie

Blackberry pie is a traditional dessert that has won over palates in many Latin American countries. Its origin dates back to the combination of European pastry techniques with native ingredients from the region, such as the blackberry or brambleberry. In Mexico, this cake is very popular in areas where these fruits are grown, while in other countries like Colombia and Venezuela, it is commonly known as "blackberry tart." In Argentina and Chile, a similar version called "blackberry pie" is also found. Regardless of the name, it is a dessert that stands out for its creamy texture and the sweet and slightly acidic flavor of the blackberry, which gives it a refreshing and very appetizing touch.

In addition to its delicious taste, blackberry pie is appreciated for its simplicity and versatility, as it can be served at family gatherings, celebrations, or simply as a sweet craving at any time of the day. Its combination of crunchy crust and juicy filling make it a favorite that crosses borders, adapting to the culinary traditions of each country with slight variations.

How to Prepare Blackberry Pie

To begin, mix sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Then, add 1 1/2 cups of water and cook the mixture until it is clear.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and add 1 package of blackberry gelatin. Stir well to dissolve it completely.

Cool the mixture a little and add 1 pint or more of blackberries. Incorporate them carefully into the gelatin mixture to prevent them from breaking apart.

Pour this preparation over the cold pie crust base. Then, store it in the refrigerator to set and keep well.

To serve, you can accompany the pie with whipped cream or ice cream to your liking. An important tip is to use 1 tablespoon less of gelatin when fresh berries are used so the result is ideal.
