History and origin of lasagna
Lasagna is one of the most emblematic dishes of Italian cuisine, with roots dating back to Roman times. Originally, this recipe consisted of layers of pasta alternated with ingredients such as meat, cheese, and sauce, which has made it a symbol of family and festive meals.
In Latin America, lasagna is very popular and is known in most countries by the same name: lasagna. However, in some places it may be called "pasta cake" or "baked lasagna," adapting to regional ingredients and preferences. Its versatility has allowed for the incorporation of variants with local ingredients, making each country have its own special version of this delicious dish.
How to prepare lasagna in a bucket
This bucket lasagna recipe is a practical and efficient way to prepare several portions at the same time, ideal for freezing and enjoying on different occasions.
Ingredients:
Ground beef, tomato sauce, spices, cottage cheese, eggs, salt, pepper, mozzarella cheese, lasagna pasta, and ice cream buckets.
Steps to follow:
Cook a large package of ground beef, drain.
Place it back in the skillet where it was cooked and add tomato sauce and spices to taste.
In another large bowl, mix two large containers of cottage cheese, four eggs, and salt and pepper.
A third bowl has a large amount of shredded mozzarella.
Open two packages of lasagna noodles, either no-boil or regular.
I prefer the regular ones, they are thicker—the no-boil ones almost disappear in my lasagna because they are too thin.
Place all the bowls and skillets in a row on the counter.
Then take 6 ice cream buckets or similar containers.
Layers in the following order: noodles, sauce, cheese, and repeat until finished.
That's it! You end up with six lasagnas and only 3 dirty skillets.
Freeze.
Once solid, slide the lasagna out of the ice cream bucket and place it in gallon-sized ziploc bags.
Now they go back into the freezer, taking up much less space.
I use the ice cream bucket because it has the exact size and shape for my 5-quart pot.
You can find another container that works better for you.
When it's lasagna day, you just put it in the pot on low heat and leave it there all day.
You come home, and dinner is ready!
